Fried Zucchini - Air Fryer, Deep Fryer, & Skillet Directions
Jump to recipe
Fried Zucchini, the summer lunch of my childhood! I would BEG my mom to make this for lunch and eat them just as fast as she would pull them out of the pan.
Zucchini is one of those vegetables that is pretty simple to grow & produce like CRAZY! On any given day, I have a whole pile of zucchini on my kitchen counter, just waiting for me to do something with them. If that’s the same for you, this is a great way to use a couple up! Makes a great snack or side dish, but I won’t tell if this is all you eat for a meal either(I do it all the time).
The first thing you’re going to do is cut off the ends of your zucchini & then cut it in half. Then slice it lengthwise in half, then again, then again. Creating 16 total “fries”. You can also slice them into circle slices if you’d like!
Now we’re going to dredge them first in flour, then egg, then Italian breadcrumbs! The breadcrumbs add a good flavor & tons of good crunch when they’re fried up!
Then you’re going to choose the frying method of your choice, deep fryer, air fryer, or skillet. I usually use my deep fryer because it goes a little faster & always leads to crispy fries, but they are all great options!
Deep Fryer
Heat oil to 350ºF. Once hot, drop the fries into the oil & fry for 3-4 minutes, until they are nice & golden brown. Remove with tongs & place on a paper towel lined plate or pan to cool.
If you don’t have a deep fryer, I highly recommend getting one! In my opinion, they’re better than air fryers and give you a better result when frying foods. I recommend this one, but any that has a basket & a temperature control would work! I don’t like the small round ones at all. They’re more of a hassle than they’re worth.
Air Fryer
Preheat to 400ºF. Once hot, put the breaded fries into the basket in a single layer, not quite touching each other. If your air fryer came with a rack, you can add a second layer of fries. Spray them with oil & cook for 9 minutes. Let cool a few minutes before you take a bite. They’ll be hot!
Skillet
The original method of frying zucchini! Heat your oil over medium to medium high heat. Once it’s hot, add your fries. Turn them when the bottom is golden. Repeat until all sides are golden brown & move to a paper towel lines plate or pan to cool.
Sriracha Ranch Sauce
This sauce brings the zucchini fries from great, to amazing! And its SO simple to make! Just take 1/2 cup of your favorite ranch & mix in 1 1/2 tsp Sriracha sauce. That’s is! Dip your fries in it & store any unused sauce in the fridge.
