Abiie Beyond Junior High Chair Review
I have been on the hunt for the perfect high chair for a while now. After hours of research and asking around to other parents & professionals, I narrowed my hunt down to the Abiie Beyond Junior and another similar one. Ultimately, I chose the Abiie Beyond and I’m so glad I did!
After deciding on it myself, I reached out to Abiie and they sent me this high chair so I could share my honest & unbiased opinion of it! I have been using it for the past few weeks now and have a good feel for what I think about it!
Here is a full breakdown of what I think of each part of it!
Assembly
When you open your box, you will find an instruction booklet with written instructions and also a QR code that will bring you to a video tutorial. I highly recommend the video! It takes all the guess work out of it and comes together fairly quickly, it would be even faster if someone was helping you. Doing it alone and also shooting photos while assembling, it took me about 45 minutes start to finish.
Seat
The seat is adjustable so you can make it fit your baby/child’s height. It is cushioned with a foam seat & backrest. They have a bunch of cute colors to choose from & sell additional seat cushions if you ever want to change up the color without buying a whole new high chair. I chose the Dove Grey color & love it! It is totally wipeable and doesn’t absorb any moisture like other high chairs with a fabric type cover. The pads easily pop off if you need to give them a more involved wash, but I just wipe it off after meals & it cleans off super easily.
Tray
I will forever and always recommend that everyone gets a high chair with a removable tray cover like this one has! It pops off to rinse instead of having to take off the whole bulky tray to try and maneuver around in the sink to wash it off. You wouldn’t think it makes that much of a difference, but it makes it so much easier! It is also dishwasher safe if you want to keep a few on hand and just put them in the dishwasher after meals.
It also has two positions for how far out it is. I like to leave it pushed out for when I put Kellen in the chair and then slide it to be closer to his body for him to eat. Then when I go to take him out, I just slide it back out and slip him out!
It is a smaller tray compared to other high chairs, which has its pros and cons. I like that it has a smaller footprint in my kitchen and doesn’t take up as much space, but it is too small for the suction plates that we have been using. But if you like, you can purchase an additional wide surface tray cover that I think would work perfectly with larger plates or just if you want a wider surface.
BUT Abiie does have their own suction plate called the Octopod that is AWESOME! They sent me one with the high chair and I love it! I’ll talk more about it at the end of this post along with their silicone bib!
Stability & Sturdiness
This is something that was so important to me because my last high chair that I thought was a great one, started to break with just normal use. I was so frustrated because I spent good money on it thinking it would last for years and years. The Abiie Beyond is made of solid wood and comes in three color and stain options. I chose the natural color and love it!
It is so sturdy. It is meant to last a lifetime and grow with your child into adulthood if you wish when you remove the tray and high chair seat. We plan to have more children & I know this will last through them all and even longer!
Foot Rest
I have done Baby Led Weaning with both of my children and a huge part of safe eating is that they have a footrest to stabilize their core to help them swallow food. The footrest on the Beyond high chair is solid, stable and adjustable! If you are interested in learning more about Baby Led Weaning, I have a blog post about it here!
Storage
Where some other high chairs fold up easily to store, this one is not one of them. Because of its wood base and sturdy construction, it is solid. To take it apart, you’ll need to unscrew all of the bolts.
Replacement Parts
There is nothing more frustrating than spending your hard earned money on a product, only to not be able to get replacement parts when something inevitably breaks or is lost. Abiie has you covered though! Everything from seat cushions to trays, straps to bolts, and anything else is available on their website for an affordable price.
When they sent me the high chair, Abiie also sent me their Octopod plate and a couple of their new Ruby Wrapp bibs to also try out!
Octopod Suction Plate
I didn’t think I would love this because we have been using another brand of suction plate, but I was wrong. I LOVE it! The sections are larger than the other one and have higher sides, meaning more food stays in the plate instead of being swiped all over onto the floor. It also has a super strong suction that Kellen has yet to break. They are dishwasher, microwave & oven safe as well! In addition to the plate, they also have bowls and bamboo plates that are so cute!
Ruby Wrapp Bib
I have always used silicone bibs so I knew I would love this one! But this is different than so many other silicone bibs out there. First of all, it is very high quality and thick silicone so the pocket actually stays open to catch food unlike some thinner competitors that I’ve purchased in the past. It also has a patented “Bib-Lock EZ Wrapp” that lets you roll it up and actually lock it closed! Which means you can tuck things like utensils in it to store and it won’t come unwrapped. I especially love this for eating out at restaurants when you want to bring your own eating tools for baby.
All in all, I can safely say that I am obsessed with this high chair and recommend it for every parent and even grandparent that wants a functional, beautiful, and sturdy high chair that will last for years to come.
