Halloween Tradition: Trick or Treat Cookies

I am all about low effort, high impact traditions that my kids will remember, but that I don’t have to put much work into executing. And this is just that!

There’s several reasons I love this tradition.

1: It uses up most of their candy so they’re not eating themselves sick and I don’t have to feel like I need to police their intake.

2: The whole family gets to enjoy the candy & there’s less for them to fight over.

3: They are freaking DELICIOUS! The textures and flavors all mixed together are pure perfection that you don’t get with a regular chocolate chip cookie!

4: It is EASY. No more effort than any other cookie, I don’t need to go out and buy anything special because I always have the ingredients!

The day after Halloween, my kids go through their buckets and pick out the chocolates. Then they help chop them up into smaller pieces, and we make Trick or Treat Cookies!

I measure out how much chocolate I need for the recipe, and then in another bowl, set aside some of the chocolate as well as some M&Ms. These we’ll use to top the cookies before we bake so they’re nice and pretty!

Then we make our family’s favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe! To make things go smoother with kids helping, I pre-measure the ingredients & put them into bowls so all they have to do is dump them into the mixer.

Sidenote: I LOVE this mixer! It’s like a Bosch’s younger sister & is perfect for the everyday kitchen! If you shop through this link and use the code MORGAN, you can save $20!

When it’s time to add in the chocolate chips, just add in your chopped up candies instead! Be careful not to mix it too much or you’ll loose the chunky texture and smoosh some of the soft peanut butter cups.

Scoop them onto your cookie sheet and then, use the candies you set aside earlier, add a few to the tops of the cookies! My kids love to help with this part and I just let them go for it!.
